Due to the effects of Hurricane Irma, the first round of the SIRC 7's tournament had to be postponed. As a result, the second round, hosted by Kennesaw State University will be the start of the competitive season for the 'Noles.
The 7's roster has been finalized, and with it come some familiar as well as fresh faces. Juniors, Alex Ruiz, Evan Barada, Arturo San Segundo and Alex Moya highlight the squad as they were all starters in the backs the previous year. Speedsters Cameron Chadsey, Joe McChrystal and Diego Veras round out the list along with hard working forwards Paul Lim, Timmy Ohlwein, and David Alicea. The latter of those two had impressive showings in the southern 7's tournament last season.
New comers to the Florida State include Adrian Cedeno, Trevor Pike, and Gabriel Brito. Adrian Cedeno, a freshman with high school rugby experience from Cardinal Gibbons has shown flashes of extreme athleticism and is looking to make a big statement heading in to the 15's season. Trevor Pike, a junior, has played the last two years with Tallahassee men's rugby club while at TCC and has proven that he can identify space and move the ball effectively. Finally, Gabriel Brito, a product of Miami Rugby, has proven himself to be a true work horse and vocal leader.
The Seminoles will face Middle Tennessee State, Memphis, Florida Atlantic, and Kennesaw State in pool play.
